WDA has allocated S$1 million to fund postgraduate scholarships, the ICT-STEP Scholarships, for Singaporeans working in the IT industry who want to improve their skills.
This was announced at the Infocomm Industry Forum 2011 held on Tuesday, 25 Oct by Mr Eddie Chau, Chairman of Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF).
The Skills Training for Excellence Programme (STEP) is an initiative jointly launched by the Ministry of Manpower and the WDA to help Professionals, Managers, Executive and Technicians (PMETs) to update their skills, knowledge and expertise to remain competitive in today’s global business climate.
As part of the STEP, WDA is jointly working with SiTF to offer up to 24 ICT-STEP Scholarships for the ICT sector. The scholarship is supported by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and aims to groom Singapore Citizens who are currently employed in the ICT sector and have been identified by employers for potential leadership positions in the company.
ICT-STEP Scholarship will be managed by SiTF. Together with WDA and IDA, a list of postgraduate Masters programmes has been identified. The programmes include,

i) Master of IT in Business (Service Sector Analytics)
ii) Master of IT in Business (Financial Services)By the National University of Singapore’s School of Computing (NUS-SOC):
i) Master of Computing
Employers who are keen to groom their employees to take on future leadership positions will enjoy up to 90% course fee funding when they nominate their high potential staff to pursue the postgraduate programmes. The programme is open for application now.
